Hi fellow Scouters.
News about Scouting University has been thin to say the least. I wanted to apologize for the lack of information thus far. It was my original intention to schedule Scouting University for this weekend, but I decided to postpone it to a suitable weekend (in April or June ... look at "Projected Dates" below).
You may be wondering about the reasons for rescheduling:
I want to ensure that when we get together that we will all enjoy the day and gain a lot of benefit from the experience.
A Suggested Theme
I am proposing that we adopt "Leaping onto the Path" as a theme for Spring Scouting U ... all of the workshop topics will be directly related to introducing the Canadian Path into your Section and Group for the 2016-17 Scouting Year.
A Suggested Schedule Format
From a scheduling perspective, I would like to propose the following changes:
I would like to see us open participation to interested youth who want to attend, probably starting at the Scout youth level. The youth would attend the same sessions as the Scouters and participate equally in contributing to the discussions. We can use this opportunity ensure that they are seen as valuable members of section leadership teams.
After examining the NLC calendar, it appears that there are only two weekends open for most people this spring:
I opened an informal survey on the Scouting U facebook discussion group and thus far it looks like it is 2 to 1 majority for April 23rd. I encourage everyone to visit our facebook discussion group and VOTE on your preferred date. I plan to close voting on Friday, March 18th.
We want to hear you thoughts
The comments space is open for you to add your comments, thoughts, ideas and suggestions. feel free to voice your opinion below or head over to the facebook discussion group and voice your thoughts there, and keep your eyes open for more announcements over this weekend.
